Today I realised exactly how much I forgot of the Italian language

I learnt it at school from prep til year 9, and I was actually getting kinda good at it even though I rarely listened in class.
But today at work I served a customer who was on holiday from Italy and couldn’t speak English and she needed to find a certain item. Being on a register I couldn’t leave it to take her to it, but I also couldn’t remember how to give directions in Italian. I felt really bad because I kept trying to talk to her in English, but she couldn’t understand me. Luckily the lady lined up behind her knew Italian and was able to help her for me
